You have a pool? We can come to you!   Call 802-851-8357. Minimum 7 participants.

The cost $40 for one hour of instruction, including the rental of the fin and tail. The lessons are open to the public, not just to guests of Smugglers' Notch Resort.

The hour long introductory classes are offered for kids, aged 7-13 and for adults aged 14 and up. The minimum age is 7 and there is no maximum age.

Classes are limited to 10 students.

Participants need to already know the basics of swimming and be comfortable in and under the water. Our Red Cross trained instructors will assess each student's abilities. The foam noodles may be used as needed or if you prefer to wear a life jacket, please bring your own. If you have any injuries or special conditions we should be aware of, please advise your instructor at the beginning of the class.

You will learn to glide on your front and back, and to propel yourself above and under water with the undulating dolphin kick. You will be very surprised how easy and less tiring it is than swimming without a tail!

Preparing for Class

Wear a comfortable bathing suit (one or two pieces are good). Make sure it allows you to move freely. Avoid eating a heavy meal 2 hours before practice. Long hair should be tied up neatly or a bathing cap should be worn. Long hair plugs up the drains.

What to bring with you

Mermaid essentials such as goggles, towel, a lock and a water bottle. (Yes you need to keep hydrated as this is exercise!). Mermaid tail rentals are included in all classes. If your hair is past your shoulders, you need to bring and wear a bathing cap.

Arriving at the Pool

Give yourself time to check in! Arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start of class. Get changed and meet us beside the pool at the mermaid tails stand. Bring your registration receipt.

Entering the Pool

Only the participants are allowed in the pool. Family & friends are allowed in the pool “area” on the bleachers.

Your Practice Experience (Class)
